Weclome to Islington Dance Festival

Islington is a borough beaming with arts and culture; packed with theatres and dance studios, it is also home for many dancers and dance companies.

Islington Dance Festival 2009 brought a wide range of outstanding dancers including professionals, local artists and artists with special needs and disabilities.

The Festival showcased modern dance alongside traditional dance forms performed by individuals and groups from all over the the world, including talents from the community of Islington and Greater London as well as the UK, Ireland and Europe in general, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.

Some of the best performance highlights came from a London debut of Janyce Michellod and Angie Smalis; world premier Elena Giannotti's One girl B.a.n.d; solo artists Frances Barbe and Cecile Mustiere; as well as dance groups such as Kurupt and Islington Dance Academy.

We hope you enjoyed the performances and we would like to congratulate those who managed to take part in dance workshops as well as the three artists who won this year's Residency Awards.

All you need now is just dance! And that is why Islington Dance Festival 2010 edition is going to be even more brilliant; watch this space!
